NAVIGATION SYSTEM
Promote safety, aid national defense, aid navigation,
prevent collisions, prevent wrecks, serve commerce,
assess the amount and nature of traffic, benefit the
public and preserve natural resources.

Aids to Navigation Team Los
Angeles-Long Beach (ANT LA-LB), was established on the
18th of April, 1986. The primary mission of ANT LA-LB is
the establishment, maintenance, and servicing of Aids to
Navigation (ATON), which includes: buoys, foghorns,
jetty lights, and lighthouses. It's area of
responsibility covers over 300 miles of California
coastline and encompasses 8 offshore islands.

ANT LA-LB
maintains 130 assigned aids, and 64 aids as a secondary
responsibility should the primary unit, Coast Guard
Buoy Tender George Cobb, be unable to respond to an outage. ANT
LA-LB also services ten primary aids, such as; Point
Hueneme Lighthouse, Los Angeles Light, Point Vicente
Lighthouse, Point Conception Lighthouse and Point Piedras Blancas Lighthouse. ANT personnel are on 24 hour
recall for rapid response to any ATON discrepancy. Our
mission is to provide the best possible navigational
service to the mariner. |
